Fall 2018

A message from Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations and Secretary of the College

Dear Loyalty Circle Members,

The fall semester is well under way and preparations for Homecoming weekend are in full swing. We look forward to welcoming our guests to campus, knowing the College is stronger today because of your support. In this issue, I want to call to your attention several important pieces of information.

Enclosed you will find a summary of the College’s recent progress toward major goals in “Planning Priorities for Lake Forest College 2013–2018.” ACCESS | The Campaign for Lake Forest College, which supports these priorities, now stands at more than $115 million toward our $125 million goal, due to a recent gift of $9 million from Trustee William G. Brown and his wife Solange Brown for the renovation and expansion of Young Hall, known to most as College Hall. Their gift represents one half of the estimated $18 million required for this important project.

As planning for this latest campus improvement is under way, the College will celebrate the completion of the new Lillard Science Center with a grand opening on Friday, October 12 at 5:00 p.m. In addition, the College recently completed the renovation of the lower level of Hotchkiss Hall as the new home of The Center for Academic Success.

Finally, two senior leaders joined the campus community over the summer. Andrea Conner began her tenure as Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students, while Sean Riedel is the College’s first-ever Chief Information Officer.

If you haven’t done so already, please visit www.lakeforest.edu/homecoming and review all of the activities associated with this festive weekend. Among them are two impressive lectures by Pulitzer Prize winning author Heather Ann Thompson and renowned social psychologist Dan Gilbert, author of international bestseller, Stumbling on Happiness.

Thank you for continuing to make Lake Forest College one of your philanthropic priorities. I look forward to seeing you on campus soon.

Philip R. Hood
Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations
Secretary of the College

P.S. I hope you attend Homecoming and Reunion Weekend on October 12-13. All events are complimentary for Loyalty Circle members. To register, go to lakeforest.edu/homecoming.
