Odugu wins Joyce Cain Award

Associate Professor of Education Desmond Odugu received the Joyce Cain Award for Distinguished Research on People of African Descent from the Comparative and International Education Society.

Odugu was awarded this honor at the 2018 Comparative and International Education Society (or CIES) conference in Mexico City.

The purpose of the conference is to provide a space to discuss the future of education globally. The program this year followed the theme of “Re-Mapping Global Education: South-North Dialogue.”

The Joyce Cain Award recognizes a scholarly article that explores themes related to people of African descent, and it was created to honor the memory of Joyce Lynn Cain, whose scholarship on African descendants introduced individuals across ethnic boundaries to African culture.
