Baade travels to Korea

While the U.S. Olympic team left PyeongChang with 23 new medals, Ernest A. Johnston Professor of Economics Robert Baade added several new media mentions to a growing list of news stories in which he is quoted on the economic impact of hosting the Olympics.

Baade travelled to South Korea for the international conference on “The Value of The Olympics and Paralympics Movement, from 1988 Seoul to 2018 Pyeongchang.” The meetings were held in Seoul, and attendees were driven to PyeongChang to tour the Olympic facilities.

Baade was quoted as an expert multiple times leading up to and during the 2018 Olympics in PyeongChang, most notably in the following:

  • The Wall Street Journal, “South Korean Developers Cautious About Lasting Olympic Benefits”
  • Morningstar story, “South Korean Developers Cautious About Lasting Olympic Benefits”
  • Vedomosti, a Russian-language business daily published in Moscow
