The Forest

Hurricane Relief

Members of the Lake Forest College campus community have asked if the College could facilitate donations to victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma in Texas, Florida, Caribbean Islands and elsewhere. Read on for ways to donate.

A number of our students are from affected areas, as are many family members and friends, and the College’s desire to offer help is important and timely, now that the hurricanes have passed and recovery has begun.

The Student Programming Board encourages students to make donations through the Hand in Hand Telethon or the 10th Annual Casino Night that will take place September 23 in the Mohr Student Center. Student Programming Board will hold a special raffle during Casino Night for anyone who brings a canned good or article of clothing to donate to Hurricane relief efforts.

In addition, several major relief organizations are hard at work assisting hurricane victims, and all of them need donations to support their efforts. Three prominent organizations are the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, and Catholic Charities. Donations to one or more of them can be easily made online by using these links:

As the recovery efforts continue, please keep the residents of these impacted areas in your thoughts. We are looking forward to the many ways in which Student Programming Board and all of our other student organizations are going to continue to bring the Lake Forest Collge community together in meaningful ways in the year ahead.
