Foresters joined the rally of Chicago-area students outside the Thompson Center in downtown Chicago to urge support for MAP funding.
More than 200 students, faculty, and staff from an estimated 15 Chicago-area colleges and universities gathered Tuesday to urge Governor Bruce Rauner to pass a bill that would fund the Monetary Awards Program, or MAP grant. The Chicago rally coincided with a simultaneous protest in downstate Springfield.
With no budget in place, the State of Illinois has failed to transfer funds for thousands of MAP grants at Lake Forest and colleges across Illinois. Some 470 Lake Forest students rely on MAP grants to stay in college.
