Preparing future faculty

Assistant Professor of Sociology Todd Beer was invited to speak at the 21st annual Indiana University Preparing Future Faculty (PFF) Conference on February 12.

Beer spoke to an audience of 150 graduate students from across multiple disciplines on what it is like to be a faculty member at a liberal arts college.

As a doctoral student in Indiana’s sociology department from 2004 to 2012, Beer not only attended the same conference, but in 2009 was named IU’s PFF Fellow and was responsible for organizing the conference. This year, Beer also hosted two round-table sessions sharing tips on how to complete the dissertation phase of a doctoral program.
