Lunch with a leader

Rapheal Mathis ’17 discussed his evolving journey as a leader and advocate for his community during a lunchtime Soup and Stories on February 5.

Mathis explained to the overflow crowd of students, faculty, and staff how family, church, and poetry have shaped his voice and passion for directing positive change.

“It was an honor to share my story with members of my community,” he said. “Being able to touch and bless the lives of those I interact with was humbling. I believe people were impacted in a positive way, and at the end of the day that’s what really matters.”

Soup and Stories is one of the most popular programs hosted by the Office of Intercultural Relations, Program Coordinator Adam Efren Lopez said. “It sheds light on the many unique and powerful stories the Forester community has to offer.”

The next Soup and Stories is scheduled at noon on Wednesday, March 17, in the Pierson Rooms in the Mohr Student Center. Professor Ahmad Sadri is the scheduled speaker.
