Math and more

Six math-minded students took a road trip with Assistant Professor of Mathematics Enrique Treviño to attend the 2015 M and M Conference (Math and More!) at St. Olaf College in Minnesota.

Organized by the Budapest Semesters in Mathematics program together with St. Olaf College, the conference was “a venue for undergraduates to showcase their research and expose them to math careers,” Treviño said.

Robert Mecham ’18, a math and physics double-major, found the conference to be “enlightening,” he said. “It was amazing to see the different careers one could flourish in just by having an education in mathematics.”

Ugur Caner Cengiz ’17 and Margaret Fortman ’18 were among a group of undergraduates who presented 15-minute talks at the conference. Other Lake Forest students who attended were: Junya Li ’18, Yuqing Zhu ’16, and Sara Jankovic ’18.
