Toward her career goal

Camille Lemieux ’17 is making big strides in her career goal of becoming a language education professor at a research university.

The Michigan native earned a prestigious internship position at Ohio State University this summer, where she is a research assistant analyzing an undergraduate English as a Second Language composition course.

“I observe the class for six hours a week, analyze class materials, and conduct interviews with faculty members,” said Lemieux, who is double-majoring in French and applied linguistics, a self-designed major, at Lake Forest College.

Thanks to this summer internship, Lemieux is “gaining experience specific to my field of study before graduate school.” Lemieux expects to use her new skills to gain even more from her studies at Lake Forest.

“I have the chance to pilot a few parts of my senior thesis, such as interview questions and observation materials, which will help me when I return to campus to start my data collection,” she said.
