Part Time - Public Safety Dispatcher

 

Lake Forest College seeks a part-time Public Safety Dispatcher (16 hours per week). This position is not benefits eligible. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Answer all incoming calls for routine and emergency services, inquiries, and general assistance matters
  • Dispatch on-duty Public Safety personnel to respond to calls for service/assistance, and to investigate observed and/or reported irregularities or emergency conditions and dispatch Officers and other emergency services when necessary
  • Record all information into the Department’s various database records and log sheets (Dispatch Records, Vehicle Records, Key Control Records, Property Records, Fire Systems, Access Control Systems, and all other logs as assigned)
  • Assist walk in traffic with their requests for routine and emergency services, inquiries, and general assistance matters
  • Monitor all local law enforcement and fire department frequencies and dispatch Officers and other emergency services when necessary
  • Monitor critical fire alarms systems, access control systems, security alarm systems, and CCTV systems and dispatch Officers and other emergency services when necessary
  • Handle all general campus switchboard functions

 

A working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook is necessary.  Outstanding interpersonal and problem-solving skills are required. Organizational skills and the ability to multi-task are essential. Previous related security/law enforcement dispatcher experience is preferred.
