Part-time Instructor of Organic Chemistry
The Department of Chemistry at Lake Forest College has an immediate need for an adjunct instructor to teach Organic Chemistry I lecture and/or one or more sections of Organic Chemistry I lab for Fall 2020. Lecture responsibilities include three 50-minute lectures each week (most likely in a synchronous on-line format due to Covid-19), writing and grading assessments, maintaining regular office hours (3 hrs per week contact time), and participating in weekly department meetings. Responsibilities for lab include instructing one 4-hour afternoon lab section, grading, and attending weekly staff meetings (on campus or via Zoom conference). A Ph.D. in organic chemistry or related field is required. Demonstrated excellence in teaching is strongly preferred. A familiarity with IR spectroscopy, gas chromatography, and NMR spectroscopy is necessary.
