Forester men’s hockey off to best start in 42 years
At 16-2-1, this season’s Lake Forest College men’s hockey team owns the program’s best record through 19 games since the 1977–78 team went 17-2-0 en route to a runner-up finish in the NCAA Division II Tournament.
The Foresters’ fast start has also drawn national attention. After sweeping an early November series at St. Norbert College, then the third-ranked team in the nation, Lake Forest began receiving votes in the U.S. College Hockey Online Top 15 Poll.
An 11-game winning streak—the second-longest run in school history—has the Foresters at #6 in the country, their highest ranking since reaching #4 in 2003–04.
They rank second in the conference in scoring offense and defense, own the league’s best penalty kill percentage, and are second on the power play.
Lake Forest’s success this season has been the result of contributions from many players and not the accomplishments of just a few individuals.
Eleven players on the team have reached double figures in points and 11 more have a least one goal or assist. In addition, a dozen Foresters have scored one or more of the team’s 16 game-winning goals.
