Emma Kuhr ’20 makes new discoveries while studying abroad

Emma Kuhr ’20 lived and studied in Costa Rica last semester through the College’s Global Engagement Office.

A double major in neuroscience and biology, Kuhr studied at Veritas University in Costa Rica to further her education and to gain new life experiences along the way.

“These classes have all been incredibly hands-on, with field trips that have taken me all over the country,” Kuhr said. “I have gotten to see cloud forests, dry forests, coastlines, rivers, beaches, waterfalls, and wildlife that I never knew existed.”

Kuhr is just one of many Lake Forest College students who study abroad. Other Foresters study in a variety of places, including Ecuador, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Northern Ireland, Scotland, South Korea, Spain, and United Arab Emirates.

“This experience has been fantastic,” Kuhr said. “I’ve been able to prepare myself for becoming a vet. I’ve never dreamed of doing this before.”
