Collage launches latest edition
After over a month of dedicated work, the Collage executive board, led by their faculty advisor Professor Ying Wu, unveiled the latest edition of the magazine to the campus during the 2019 Student Symposium last week.
Collage represents the cultural and linguistic diversity within the College community, providing an opportunity for students of any language other than English to use their abilities in a creative medium.
The turnout at the Collage session during Student Symposium was greater than expected for the latest edition, which includes submissions representing 16 different languages from more than 50 authors.
“The launch at Symposium was an insightful event,” said Lilly Knopf ’22. “It felt like a safe space to read and present a few of the beautiful pieces featured in Collage.”
For Knopf, having the opportunity to publish her personal work alongside works in so many different languages was an amazing experience, she said.
“The executive board of the magazine put together an awe-inspiring issue and an equally wonderful launch event,” Knopf said.
During the launch, Professor Wu shared the news that “starting in fall 2019, students serving on the executive board will be able to sign up for a practicum to earn credit for their work on Collage.”
