Jacque Rogers named Forester Athlete of the Week
Hockey player Jacque Rogers ’20 was voted Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after tallying 81 saves in her team’s series split with visiting University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, the 10th-ranked team in the nation, last weekend.
Rogers turned away 36 of 37 shots on goal Friday night in a 3-1 Forester triumph. The only score the junior goaltender allowed came on the power play with just 3:28 to play in the contest and the Blugolds’ goaltender on the bench in favor of an extra attacker.
The Foresters were edged out 2-1 by Eau Claire on Saturday, despite Rogers registering 45 saves, one shy of her career high. She stopped at least a dozen shots on goal in each period and both of the Blugolds’ goals came on the power play.
Rogers, who was also named Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, raised her save percentage on the season to .937 and improved her goals against average to 1.77.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Rogers also earned the award twice during the 2016-17 season.
