Fun with the brain
Nu Rho Psi and Synapse with help from student leaders Victoria Egedus ’14 and Sarah Chiren ’16 hosted 25-30 elementary students from North Chicago to teach them about the brain.
Thirteen students were inducted into the Nu Rho Sci national neuroscience honorary society in a ceremony on March 17. Seven alumni and two faculty members also were inducted.
Students took a break from mid-terms to connect with three visiting therapy dogs on March 15. The Office of Residence Life coordinated the session as a way to reduce stress and bring students together outside the classroom.
Starting in fall 2016, In The Loop students will live in Chicago at The Flats (829 South Wabash) in the South Loop. The Flats will provide our students with fully furnished apartments, complete with bath, kitchen, common area, and with incredible views of the city and Lake Michigan.

The Environmental Studies Program treks senior seminar students down the Mississippi River each spring break to learn in the field about how we are connected to the great river and to the Gulf Coast of Louisiana into which the river drains. Professor Glenn Adelson takes his class on an educational adventure down to New Orleans with lots of pit stops on the way.
The board of Eukaryon and student contributors celebrated the 12th volume of the award-winning undergraduate research journal on March 1. Professor of Biology Karen Kirk was the inauguration speaker.
