Men’s Hockey Alumni Day
Men’s Hockey Alumni Day took place on January 25. The day honored 31 hockey alumni who returned to the Forest, including members of 1978 National Runner-up team and many Lake Forest Athletic Hall of Fame inductees. Later, the men’s varsity squad was victorious over the visitors from Amherst College, 3-1, and the newest recipient of the Peter G. Taylor ’73 Award, Chris Gard ’14, was recognized. The women’s basketball Alumni Day was held on Saturday, February 11 at the Sports and Recreation Center. Former athletes and families returned to campus for the annual alumni basketball game, social, and to cheer on the current team as they took on Cornell College.
In addition to Alumni Day, Athletic Director Jackie Slaats was recognized during half time for her 30 years of service to the College and unwavering support of Lake Forest College Athletics.
On Saturday, January 28 seniors Emily Bowens, Lauren Dalecky, Sean Flanigan, Sam Freedberg, Josh Georgeff, James Haney, Orion Huey, Travis Johnson, Ryan Keast, Chris Martinez, Virgil Thomas, and Lily Thorsen were honored during the first diving break of the meet.
The Lake Forest College Athletics Department in conjunction with the Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association (GLASA) held the seventh annual “The Sleds Are Coming!” event on Sunday, January 29, 2017 in the Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse. The event was held in order to promote and raise funds for the GLASA Falcons Sled Hockey Team.
On Friday, December 9, students and faculty gathered to have lunch with alumnus Matt Helderman ’11 in the Student Center. The philosophy major, former student-athlete, and entrepreneur founded Buffalo 8 Productions, a full-service feature film and commercial production company, and BondIt, a turn-key financing solution for the entertainment world.
On Saturday, December 3, the Forester community, family and friends of the Dau family gathered at the Lake Forest College Lily Reid Holt Memorial Chapel to mourn the loss of Paula Dau ’58, who passed away peacefully at her home on November 11, 2016. A reception immediately followed the service, which was held at the Glen Rowan House.
