Hotchkiss Celebration of Faculty 2016

More than 50 faculty and staff attended the second annual Sue and Gene Hotchkiss Celebration of Faculty Scholarship on April 19. The event was an impressive testament to the remarkable scholarly productivity of the faculty. “I want to commend you all,” Gene Hotchkiss told the group during the late afternoon gathering. “Scholarship is what distinguishes us from other colleges.”

    Alumni experienced the cutting-edge world of virtual reality during a Friday open house in the College’s new Virtual Space. Virtual reality, or VR, is the computer-generated simulation of a 3D environment that can be interacted with using a headset and handheld controllers. The Virtual Space is located in Room 212 in the Donnelley and Lee Library.

    Professor Matt Kelley shared his story, Growing up Clueless, during the lunchtime Soup & Stories on Friday, October 12. Soup & Stories is a series dedicated to highlighting the personal, culturally-related experiences of each particular presenter. Kelley is the chair of the psychology department and chair of the neuroscience department.

    Pulitzer Prize-winning author and historian Heather Ann Thompson delivered the Ruth Winter Lecture on Wednesday, October 10.

    Foresters packed the bleachers during the Homecoming Pep Rally, which took place on Wednesday, October 10 in the main gym of the Sports and Recreation Center. Kenzie Ellis ’19 and Rodney Bethea ’20 were crowned Homecoming 2018 Regents during the event. The combined men’s cross country and Delta Chi group won the coveted best skit award.

    Global Fest 2018 featured a Study Abroad Fair, Globalpalooza, and the Intercultural Gala and After Party. Globalpalooza is an on-campus festival open to the Lake Forest College community and this year featured cultural bands, free food, raffle prizes, interactive booths, and more. The 2018 Intercultural Gala hosted cultural performances and international food followed by the always-popular After Party.
