Outdoor wetland teaching lab
The McClure Rain Garden is an outdoor classroom featuring three varying-depth ponds planted with more than 100 native species. These wetland micro-environments will offer new research possibilities for both students and faculty.
The McClure Rain Garden is made possible through the generosity of James M. Stuart, Marian S. Pillsbury and Alexander D. Stuart.
1,700-square-foot greenhouse
The new greenhouse will serve multiple purposes on campus. With the new greenhouse, plants will be grown for:
• Faculty and student research
• Classroom demonstration and lab use
• Landscape restoration on campus
• Starting seedlings for the Lake Forest College Student Garden
Rooftop garden
The rooftop garden offers a new opportunity to grow native plants for classroom use and to conduct in-depth research on species development in an artificial environment.
