Other Assessments at Lake Forest College

The Institutional Research Office oversees a variety of assessments for the College.

National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE)  The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) collects information from first-year and senior students about the characteristics and quality of their undergraduate experience. Since the inception of the survey, more than 1,600 bachelor’s-granting colleges and universities in the United States and Canada have used it to measure the extent to which students engage in effective educational practices that are empirically linked with learning, personal development, and other desired outcomes such as persistence, satisfaction, and graduation.

CIRP Freshman Survey (Higher Education Research Institute) For over 50 years, the CIRP Freshmen Survey (TFS) has provided data on incoming college students’ background characteristics, high school experiences, attitudes, behaviors, and expectations for college. The survey, created by Dr. Alexander “Sandy” Astin in 1966, has resided at the Higher Education Research Institute at UCLA since 1973.

All Campus Student Survey: The All Campus Student Survey (ACSS) lets students rate Lake Forest College’s academics, academic support, campus communications, the community, and residence life (if those students live on campus).  The results from this survey allow the administration to evaluate programs and make resource decisions. Students complete the survey each Spring.
