Residence Life

New Student Information

Living on campus is a wonderful way for new students to get connected at Lake Forest College.

Housing Intent Form

The housing intent form confirms for the College if you intend to be a resident or commuter. The housing application, which will be posted in May, will be where resident students can make their on-campus housing preferences.

Housing Application: Posted October 21, 2016

The housing application will be available on October 21, 2016. The priority deadline for housing applications is December 2, 2016.

Housing assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis.  We do our best to honor mutual roommate preferences and special accommodations when assigning residence halls and roommates.

Residency Requirement

The College has a residency requirement for most first, second, and third year students. This means that most first, second, and third year students are required to live in campus housing.

Students may apply for an exemption from the three-year residency requirement if they meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Live at home with parent/guardian within 30 road miles of the College;
  • Age 23 or older;
  • Have dependent children;
  • Are married;
  • Active members of the armed forces; or,
  • Have completed 24 Lake Forest College credits or more (not including AP or IB credits).
Important Dates

Occupancy of an assigned room is limited to the fall and spring academic terms, commencing and ending with dates published in the Student Handbook.

Please make travel and lodging arrangements accordingly. Early arrivals are not possible.

Spring 2016 Important Dates:

Sunday, January 15 at 9:00 a.m.: Move-in for all students, including transfers, new students, and returning students.

Amenities and Services Partnerships

We partner with several outside companies to provide additional resources for resident students. The ones listed below allow you to begin outfitting your room before you even move in!

We are confident the items you find here will fit well and hold up to the rigors of college life. If at any time from the first day of school until graduation you are not satisfied, you can return any item for a full refund of the price of the item.
