Living-Learning Communities (LLCs) are opportunities for upperclass students to live near other students with a similar interest or academic focus. Students in LLCs will participate in activities organized especially for them while also taking part in larger campus events as well. LLCs are designed to enhance your live-on experience as a Forester.
Modern Languages and Literatures Living-Learning Community
The Modern Languages and Literatures LLC is located in Cleveland-Young Hall. This small, close-knit community offers students opportunities to connect with others interested in foreign languages and international issues. Faculty members from the Modern Languages and Literatures Department regularly host dinners, cooking events, and bring in special guests to the community as a part of the LLC programming.
Social Justice and Ethics Living-Learning Community
The Social Justice and Ethics LLC is located in Deerpath Hall. Students in this community can expect opportunities to engage in all dimensions of social justice and ethics – personal, campus, community and more. Partners from The Ethics Center at Lake Forest College will offer large and small scale events for students in the community to explore their interests and to create dialogue around issues of social justice and ethics. This community is for students interested in all aspects of social justice and ethics, from dialogue and philosophical discussion to activism.
Cleveland-Young International Center
The Cleveland-Young International Center (CYIC) is a residence hall program in Cleveland-Young Hall which provides an international themed living and learning environment for its residents. The program is open to all returning Lake Forest College students. The primary goal of CYIC is to create a community in which international and intercultural learning extends beyond the classroom and into daily life.
Living-Learning Community selection is part of Lake Forest College’s room selection process for returning students. For more information about that process, please visit the main room selection page.
