Student Organization Leaders and Advisors
Student organizations at Lake Forest College provide opportunities to dig deeply into personal and professional areas of interest. Lake Forest College organization faculty and staff advisors provide ongoing support and guidance for student leaders, and the Gates Center provides support for the advising process.
Advisor Manual and Support.
Every year, the Gates Center hosts a series of workshops for student organization advisors, including an orientation workshop and access to ongoing leadership series, the Student Organization Advising Program (SOAP).
Student Organization Advising Program.
The Student Organization Advising Program (SOAP) provides ongoing support and leadership development for new student organization leaders. SOAP meetings are led by the Gates Center professional staff in collaboration with student and staff leaders from across campus. Meetings are open to all new student organization members although many organizations include “SOAP Representative” in their leadership structures. take place every two weeks, and cover a variety of leadership development topics, including: programming basics, goal-setting, cross-campus collaboration, team-building, working with an advisor, addressing burnout, and assessing your organization.
