How did you choose your area of study?
I’ve always done theater so that was a given. As for psychology, it satisfied my rabid scientific curiosity as well as a yearning to help people. I also had the best professor for Intro to Psychology (Professor Kelley!!!), who quickly turned into my adviser and mentor. It’s my goal to marry my two interests at some point in my career.
What did you think of the faculty?
The professors and advisers working with the Loop Program were incredible and really smoothed the experience over. I viewed it as a mini “real life” trial run which, could have been super scary but turned out to be an incredible growing experience. Most importantly, the residence director, Laura, is the best! It would not have been the same without her humor and caring!
What’s your favorite part about living in the Loop?
Being able to access any part of the city and see lots of shows! You seriously can’t beat the location.
More information to share?
My experience in the Loop program gave me the confidence to strike out on my own! You’d be surprised how much shopping, budgeting, cooking, and commuting like a regular “adult” actually changes your life. So the post grad transition was not as jarring as I thought it would be, and I thank the Loop for that!
The networking I did in my internship also directly helped me to find the job I have now. Every student at Lake Forest should do the Loop Program, especially if you can’t study abroad. DO IT!
