The human body has an intricate layout of interwoven systems that, when working in unison, allow us to unlock our full potential. From simple physical reflexes like blinking to elaborate mental operations such as recalling a hazy childhood memory, our brain is the only organ that plays a role in the execution of all such tasks. I’m attracted to the all encompassing nature of the brain, and therefore decided to study Neuroscience at Lake Forest College. I’m especially interested in the limitless ways our brain can malfunction. Studying the crippling effects of mental illnesses is intriguing, and I would like to someday help people who suffer from them. Our neuroscience program caters to its students by extending research opportunities and emphasizing communication and collaboration not only between students, but also between students and professors.
