Assistant Professor of Chemistry
The Departments of Chemistry and Biology invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the Chemistry Department, starting August 2018 with a focus in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Candidates should be excited to play a key role in the launching of our new BMB major in our newly expanded science center. They should demonstrate enthusiasm for liberal arts education and readiness to contribute to all levels of the curriculum. Postdoctoral experience is required and demonstrated excellence in teaching beyond the traditional TA experience is strongly preferred. Primary teaching responsibilities will include upper-level Molecular Biology lecture and laboratory, and Biochemistry II. Additional courses ultimately may include an upper-level elective course, a general education science course, or one of the campus-wide First-Year Studies courses.
Candidates will be expected to develop an active undergraduate-led research program with the potential for publication and external funding. The completion of our expanded and renovated science facility in August 2018 will be augmented by the start of a five-year equipment grant.
