New trustee named
David Z. Beecher ’80 headmaster at Hillside School in Massachusetts, has been elected to the College’s Board of Trustees. He will serve on the Academic Affairs and Student Affairs Committees through 2018.
Beecher brings to the Board a broad array of experience in education, including teaching, administrative and coaching positions at Berkshire School, Fay School, Wilbraham & Monson Academy—all private schools in Massachusetts, and as athletic administrator and assistant coach of the men’s varsity hockey team at Yale University.
“It is an honor to give back to the college that gave me so much,” Beecher said. “My liberal arts education at Lake Forest provided me with the foundation that has allowed me to succeed in work and life. I hope that I am able to play a small role in the continued growth of our great college.”
Throughout his career, Beecher has served in a variety of board positions with the Independent Educational Consultants Association, Junior Boarding Schools Association, The Country School of Madison, Connecticut, and The Phoenix School in Salem, Massachusetts.
Beecher majored in American Studies at Lake Forest and also received his teaching certificate while in attendance. He is a Massachusetts resident.
“David Beecher will be a wonderful trustee for the College,” President Stephen D. Schutt said. “His broad experience in private education—from elementary school through higher education—will serve the College well. We are pleased to have David join our Board.”
