Talhami to speak in Boston on plight of Palestinian women

Ghada Talhami, D. K. Pearsons Professor of Politics, emerita, will deliver a campus-wide lecture at Boston University on Thursday, March 5.

In her talk, “The Impact of War and Occupation on Palestinian Women,” Talhami will focus on the differences between Western and Third World feminist movements, using the case of Palestinian women as an example of oppression by the patriarchy and conditions of war and occupation.

“Palestinian women have had a history of activism on the side of their own national movement, providing social welfare assistance to Palestinian refugees and residents living under Israeli occupation,” Talhami said.
