Politics in action

Politics and film double-major Josh Kim ’17 experienced the political process firsthand while working on a successful election campaign for a U.S. House of Representatives candidate.

Kim conducted research used in speeches, coordinated events and canvassed for Bob Dold, a one-term U.S. congressman from Illinois who won back his seat.

Double-majoring in film as a self-designed major and minoring in legal studies, Kim used skills and concepts he learned in class while working on Dold’s re-election campaign.

“I have been so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of one of the most compelling Congressional races in the nation,” said Kim, who describes himself as “passionate about politics.”

The men’s tennis team player selected Lake Forest College from a long list of possible schools—and is glad he did.

“I think all my accumulated experiences at Lake Forest College thus far have helped me with this internship,” Kim said. “I have had such amazing opportunities and I feel so lucky to go to a college that allows me to pursue my interests, meet such amazing people and develop vital tools that will help me in my professional future.”
