Chicago Director and Playwright Workshops Material with Theater Students

David Kersnar, an ensemble member of the Lookingglass Theatre Company, held a two week workshop with Professor Chloe Johnston’s Acting II class
“Working with director David Kersnar was an enriching experience that changed my perspective of the actor’s role at a professional theaters. Throughout the two weeks my acting class and I worked on Kersnar’s theatrical adaptation of the novel 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, by Jules Verne, I learned about the complexity of the process of adaptation. Kersnar introduced us to the physical world of Lookingglass Theatre, where many creative choices on the staging of the plays are built on games based on improvisation and physicality.  Working with a professional opened my eyes to the world of adaptation—a fascinating world that becomes more complex once you begin to explore it.”
