In the survey, graduates secured jobs at a range of companies, including Coyote Logistics, Aon-Hewitt, CDW, Teach for America, the National U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce, and Citi Group. Graduate or professional schools reported were just as varied, and included Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Northwestern University, and the University of Chicago, among many others. Top destinations for Lake Forest graduates were Chicago, Washington D.C., New York City, Austin, San Francisco, Denver, and Phoenix.
Why the success? “At Lake Forest, we put a premium on helping students explore and identify career options and gain experience throughout their four years on campus,” explained Lisa Hinkley, the College’s associate vice president for career and professional development. “Engagement as early as the students’ first year gives them time to build the skills necessary to succeed after Lake Forest. I’m proud to say it’s working, as the survey results bear out.”
In addition, Lake Forest students get a lot of support from the Forester community. Many survey respondents indicated that they secured or learned about their current position through a College connection, such as a faculty or staff member, an alumnus, the College’s online job board ForesterLink, or an internship experience.
“Lake Forest is all about the personal connection,” said one career advisor, Dee Dee Dolan. “From initial career-related conversations to landing that first job, the College is partners with students throughout the process.”
