New career events for students

As part of the CAC’s mission to help students with all phases of their career development, we have created the “Find Your Passion, Make It Real!” event series. Please spread the word about these upcoming events to students. You will also find a flyer here, which you may print and post in your office or give to students.

February 1: Discover Your Academic and Career Interests

4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.; Pierson Rooms

Explore major and career interests in this workshop by learning ways to narrow down your interests to a few key areas and effectively map your academic and career goals. In this workshop we’ll discuss the importance of declaring a major, ways to define your career goals and interest areas, and key decision-making strategies for moving your academic and career development forward.

February 6: Choosing a Major, Finding an Advisor, and Creating a Plan

4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.; Mohr Student Center

Build upon your academic and career interests by attending this casual networking event. Meet faculty and student leaders who can offer academic advice, as well as staff who can guide you in finding the resources essential for internships and off-campus study opportunities. Join us and make the important next steps for your success.

February 13 - 17: Forester Internship Week

Forester Internship Week is designed to connect students, alumni, and employers in their fields through a weeklong series of career themed events, workshops, information sessions, and on-campus interviews. For more information, visit https://www.lakeforest.edu/academics/cac/foresterinternshipweek.php

Next week, students will also enjoy access to a series of employer information sessions and a law school/LSAT information session.  Because employers that plan their hiring are most likely to complete their recruiting by the end of February, it is very important for students to be working on job and internship searches now.  Later in the semester, you will see more information about the graduate school series designed for juniors planning to proceed to graduate school immediately after graduation and seniors taking a year off before graduate study.

Alongside these many events, I am pleased to announce that Genevra Gallo-Bayiates joined the Career Advancement Center team late in the fall semester to serve as the Assistant Director of the CAC.  She brings a rich background in theatre and education.  Genevra is the staff member most likely to see students that need help exploring majors or careers.  For her full bio, please visit our website: http://www.lakeforest.edu/academics/cac/staff.php.

For more information on any of these events or opportunities, please don’t hesitate to contact us at by calling (847) 735-5235.

Thanks,

Lisa
