Homecoming 2011 one of the largest in history

This year’s Homecoming, Reunion, and Family Weekend, the second largest in the history of the College, was full of energy – whether it was during the football game, at the parade, at the Family Carnival on Middle Campus, or at the Friday night reunions.

Three Foresters were inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame: Sarah Frantz ’01, arguably the best setter in the College’s volleyball history; Alison Grubbs ’01, the second-leading scorer in Forester women’s basketball history; Rob Samuels ’96, who finished his career as the second-leading scorer in Forester men’s soccer history; and Beth Pier, who led the Forester volleyball squad to a 252-157 record in her 14-year career.

Three alumni received awards at the Saturday night dinner. Sean W. Thomas ’81, of Lakewood, Ill., was awarded the Distinguished Service Citation in recognition of his outstanding service and dedication to the College; Robin L. McCarley ’86, of Prairieville, La., was awarded the Richard W. Hantke Alumni Teacher Award; and S. Anthony McCann ’66, of Silver Spring, Md., was awarded the Outstanding Alumni Leadership Award.
