College offers accelerated and dual-degree programs
This year Lake Forest College launched new accelerated and dual-degree initiatives for motivated students who identify professional goals early in their college careers.
The College now offers three-year degree programs in philosophy and communication and dual-degree programs in law and international studies. Similar accelerated graduate school programs in engineering, medicine, and business will be added in 2010. As a result, students can save a year of tuition fees and get a jump start on their careers.
Lake Forest has agreements with four law schools that will allow high-achieving students to complete a Lake Forest bachelor’s degree and a law degree in a total of six years, rather than the usual seven: Illinois Institute of Technology’s Chicago-Kent College of Law; John Marshall Law School; Loyola School of Law; and Vermont Law School. The College also partnered with the Graduate School of International Policy and Management (GSIPM) at the Monterey Institute of International Studies.
Qualified students must still complete all requirements for their academic major. In addition to the financial benefits that flow from saving a year’s tuition, President Stephen D. Schutt says, “It’s an opportunity to accelerate and move more quickly and get to a goal that a student has already identified as his or her ambition.”
