Students Experience Greece
Professor Linda Horwitz, along with thirteen undergrads from a variety of majors, traveled through Greece from March through June as a part of Lake Forest College’s own Greece program.
To prepare them for their journey, students enrolled in Greek Civilizations 201: “Ancient Greece: Life, Thought, and the Arts,” a four-credit preparatory course during the first half of the spring semester. Faculty from across the college guest-lectured on a variety of topics including Greek philosophy, rhetoric, history, art, and politics.
Once in Greece, students spent some time in Athens, but traveled away from Athens for blocks of time to important sites on mainland Greece and on the Greek Islands. During this time, students are immersed in local cultures and attend classes at archaeological sites and museums.
