Ioana C. Munteanu ’13 explains how her dreams have come true with the help of donors

A recipient of  The Courtney Doherty Wright ’88 La Magnifique  Vie Franςaise Scholarship describes her experiences with the French language.  She is grateful to donors who have helped make these opportunities available.

I am a sophomore at Lake Forest College.  I am the recipient of The Courtney Doherty Wright ’88 La Magnifique Vie Franςaise Scholarship, and I just wanted to say how very grateful I am for the support that has helped me continue my education at Lake Forest College.

I am originally from Romania, but now I live with my family in Highland Park, Illinois. I had chosen to come to Lake Forest because it offered me the attention I wanted from professors, a diverse community and the opportunity to become whatever I wanted to be. So far, I’ve had a fabulous first year which enabled me to spend the first semester of my sophomore year in Paris.

In Ioana’s words:

I am certain I accomplished my goal while I was in this wonderful city of lights, and I cannot thank the donors enough for helping me make my dreams come true.

During my freshman year, I was able to continue my life-long affair with the French language and culture. At Lake Forest College I took advanced French courses, got involved with the French Club and, inevitably, I chose French as my major. I traveled to Paris with the goal of finally mastering this language which I’ve loved for so long. I am certain I accomplished my goal while I was in this wonderful city of lights, and I cannot thank the donors enough for helping me make my dreams come true.
