Residence Life > Special Interest Housing

Blackstone Academic Hall is designed to offer a community in which the students’ living environment supports their commitment to academics.  Residents are required to observe 24-hour quiet hours 7 days a week.  All residents must maintain a 3.0 grade point average while living in Blackstone.  The Red & Black Academic Club is housed in the building providing opportunities for students to engage in faculty interactions and thoughtful programs.

Lois Durand Hall is the only all-women’s residence hall on campus.  While men are allowed to visit Lois Hall residents, sensitivity to a more private atmosphere for women is a community expectation.  Resident Assistants often provide programs specific to women’s issues.

Cleveland-Young International Center is a small residence hall of 27 students.  Housing both international and domestic students, the primary goal is to create a community in which intercultural learning extends beyond the classroom and into daily student life.  Students are required to attend a retreat shortly after arriving to campus in hopes of laying the foundation for a community where the open exchange of ideas is welcomed and encouraged.

Moore Wellness Hall is the only alcohol-free residence hall on campus.  Students who live in Moore agree not to use, possess, or transport alcohol into the building.  Special programming will be focused on issues related to healthy lifestyle choices and wellness.

Chicago Explorers Program in Nollen Hall is a small community of residents who are committed to exploring Chicago’s vast array of cultural, educational, recreational, and historical sites.  Students are required to attend one event per month.  As a self-directed community, all students will participate in the planning and implementation of the activities.  Though most events will be subsidized, students should expect to pay a nominal fee for each activity.
