Residence Life > Residence Hall Descriptions
Ten residence halls provide our resident students with options that include all-women's, coeducational, upper-class, predominantly first-year, alcohol-free, and 24-hour quiet hour living environments. All of our residence halls are smoke-free in accordance with the Illinois Clean Indoor Air Act. In addition, some students are affiliated with housing units based on a common interest or purpose (special interest communities) and live in Deerpath Academic Theme Suites, South Campus Maplewood Apartments, Blackstone Academic Hall, or Cleveland-Young International Center. The residence halls contain their own lounges for study and recreational activities. Floorplans of the halls are available here.
North Campus

Cleveland-Young International Center
Cleveland-Young International Center is a co-ed residence hall open to incoming students on a space-available basis. Cleveland-Young is a special interest house for international relations majors, students interested in studying abroad, international students, or students looking for an internationally-diverse living community. Cleveland-Young is comprised of single and double-occupancy rooms. Cleveland-Young supports a 24-hour quiet hours policy from Sunday at 5:00 p.m. to Friday at 5:00 p.m., 2:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. Cleveland-Young offers a study, kitchen, and lounge area, as well as laundry facilities. Special activities to enhance the residential experience are provided by the Office of Intercultural Relations and the Office of Residence Life. Residency in Cleveland-Young is available by special interest housing application only.

Deerpath Hall
Renovated in the late '90s, Deerpath Hall is a co-ed residence hall housing upper-class students in singles, doubles, and 5- and 6-person academic theme suites. Deerpath includes a large lounge with a baby grand piano and TV on the first floor, and a cafι that is open during the evenings. Additionally, Deerpath offers a workout room as well as laundry facilities. The 5- and 6-person suites are offered to groups of upper-class students who develop and propose an academic theme around which they design activities and programs for the residents of Deerpath. Deerpath Hall supports a 24-hour quiet hours policy from Sunday at 5:00 p.m. to Friday at 5:00 p.m., 2:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.

Lois Durand Women's Hall
Lois Hall is our only all-women's residence hall. Lois houses students from all academic classes, offering a number of doubles, triples, and quads for incoming students. Lois offers a large lounge with a study area, a TV room, and laundry facilities. While men are allowed to visit Lois Hall residents, a sensitivity to a more private atmosphere for women is a community expectation. Lois Hall supports a 24-hour quiet hours policy from Sunday at 5:00 p.m. to Friday at 5:00 p.m., 2:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.

Middle Campus

Blackstone Academic Hall
Blackstone Academic Hall is a co-ed residence hall housing both first-year and upper-class students in singles, doubles, and quads. Its location on Middle Campus makes it ideal for access to the main buildings, classrooms, the Mohr Student Center, and Donnelly and Lee Library. Upper-class students who choose to live in Blackstone maintain a 3.0 minimum grade point average (GPA) and support a 24-hour quiet hours policy seven days per week. Blackstone offers a TV lounge, a first-floor study lounge and laundry facilities . Residency in Blackstone Academic Hall is available by special interest housing application only

Gregory Hall
Gregory Hall is a co-ed residence hall housing upper-class students in singles and quads. Each "quad" (in Gregory, Roberts, and McClure) consists of two rooms divided by a private bathroom and closet area. Residents have access to the tv lounge/study on the main floor, as well as laundry facilities. Gregory is also home to the General Assembly (GA) lounge which is run by the student government association. Residents of Gregory Hall support a 24-hour quiet hours policy from Sunday at 5:00 p.m. to Friday at 5:00 p.m., 2:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.

Consisting mostly of single rooms and a few double rooms, Moore Hall is a co-ed residence hall housing both first-year and upper-class students. A TV and study lounge is located on the main floor, as well as laundry facilities. Residents of Moore Hall support a 24-hour quiet hours policy from Sunday at 5:00 p.m. to Friday at 5:00 p.m., 2:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.

Nollen Hall

Nollen provides TV rooms/studies, a recreation room, a large community room, a cafι that is open in the evening, and laundry facilities.Nollen Hall supports quiet hours 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Roberts Hall is a co-ed residence hall housing mostly first-year students in quads and upper-class students in singles. Each "quad" (in Gregory, Roberts, and McClure) consists of two rooms divided by a private bathroom and closet area. Residents have access to the TV lounge/study on the main floor, as well as laundry facilities. Residents of Roberts Hall support a 24-hour quiet hours policy from Sunday at 5:00 p.m. to Friday at 5:00 p.m., 2:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.

South Campus Apartments on Maplewood Road
Two duplexes (each with two apartment units) within a community of faculty, staff, and students, serve as student apartment housing for upper-class students. Four five-person apartments each consists of three bedrooms (one single-occupancy room and two double-occupancy rooms). Each of the four apartments contains a full kitchen, a study/dining area, as well as coin-operated laundry facilities. Residents of South Campus Apartments support a 24-hour quiet hours policy seven days per week. Residency in the Maplewood Road Apartments is available by special interest housing application only.
Quiet Hours
Quiet hours in Blackstone, Nollen and McClure are 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
In Cleveland-Young, Deerpath, Harlan, Lois, Gregory, Moore and Roberts, quiet hours are 24 hours a day from 5 p.m. Sunday through 5 p.m. Friday, and on Friday night and Saturday night, they are 2 a.m. to 10 a.m.
