Important Reminders

The Department of Public Safety, located in the Stuart Commons, is open everyday from 9:00am - 5:00pm during New Student Orientation.  Wait until there is no line to get your photo taken for your student I.D. 

Students may acquire a student I.D. in alphabetical order, based on last names, according to the following schedule: Saturday, August 23, (A-F), Sunday, August 24 (G-L), Monday, August 25 (M-R), Wednesday, August 27 (S-Z), Thursday, August 28 (ALL)

9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Check-in and move in to your new home!  Your registration, academic, and financial information can be picked up in your campus mailbox (in the Stuart Commons).

Note: if you arrive between 3pm-7pm, check in at the Gates Center (located in the Stuart Commons), after 7pm, check in at Public Safety (Stuart Commons).

The City of Lake Forest Welcomes You!

Join the fun in Lake Forest's famed "Market Square" for lunch, music, and a taste of what the city of Lake Forest has to offer.  Prize giveaways throughout lunch as well as tours around the downtown area. 

Market Square is within walking distance from the campus and shuttle bus transportation will be provided. Shuttle will make continuous runs starting behind Stuart Commons, near the Public Safety entrance.

The Assistant Director of International Relations, Erin Hoffman, will lead this mandatory meeting. Bring your passport, I-20 form, and I-94 card.

Information session for students with disabilities and their families:

Teryn Robinson, Learning Support Specialist, will lead a discussion for students with disabilities and their families about key academic support resources.  She will also discuss how to receive accommodations in the classroom.

At this session you will receive academic information specific to the transfer student.  You will also have the opportunity to sign up for the Tuesday Chicago excursion.

Family Departure:

The Lake Forest College version of Chicago's Annual Food Fest.

* "Drunk Sex, or Date Rape?" *

Some students on our campuses today engage in a "hook-up" culture of random sexual encounters with other students, usually fueled by alcohol. But, just because some students are getting drunk and "hooking-up" doesn't make it right, or legal. When does a "hook-up" cross the line?

This program dispels common myths about alcohol and sex.

The Lake Forest College teacher preparation program prepares students for teaching certification in elementary (K-9) or high school (grades 6-12).  Shelley Sherman, Associate Professor of Education will lead this session for students considering education as a major.

Athletics Team Practices (Fall sports only):

This practice is for students who depart for the Lake Forest Train Station for their Chicago Excursion at 9:24am or later.

Athletes leaving on the 9:24am train will pick up a bag lunch from Halas Hall.  These students will walk to the train station with Forester Guides to meet their classes.

Those athletes scheduled to depart at 8:24am will not attend this session, but will return to campus in time to participate in the 4:30pm practice.

*FIYS / Transfer Student Chicago Experience*

Lake Forest College takes you on an excursion into the one and only City of Chicago.  Fresh, bagged lunches will be available for your day in Chicago. 

Please be sure to be on time and ready to meet with your Forester Guide / FIYS Professor.

Gates Leadership Scholar Information

All leadership scholars are encouraged to attend this session to learn how the scholarship works and what will be needed to complete the leadership training.

Float by the Library:

Make sure to save room for dessert! Stop by the Library on your way to or from lunch to get a free root beer float in a reusable mug. Meet the Library and Information Technology staff, ask questions about computing or research, and enjoy a great treat! If it's raining, floats will be served inside.

Be a part of a Lake Forest College tradition!  FIYS faculty will lead the student march to the 1st Presbyterian Church where you will be welcomed by faculty, staff, the Senior 25, and your fellow students.
