First Connection Pre-Orientation
Sunday, August 16 - Saturday, August 22
Designed especially for students who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education, First Connection helps students make a successful transition to life at Lake Forest. This pre-orientation program is recommended for students with an interest in African American, Asian American, Latino/a, or Native American cultures, international student issues or GLBT issues.
New Student Orientation
Friday, August 21 - Wednesday, August 26
Orientation Week for first-year and transfer students is August 21 - 26. A full schedule of events will be passed out on arrival day and will include meetings and events for students and parents alike. Parents should plan to stay only through the family farewell lunch on Saturday, August 22. While students will be very busy getting to know the campus, their professors, and each other during Orientation Week, by the end they will be ready emotionally, physically, and mentally to start classes on August 27.

Friday, August 21: Arrival Day
9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Move-in
4:45 – 5:45 p.m. – President’s welcome dinner for students and parents
Saturday, August 22
8:00 – 11:00 a.m. – Center for Chicago Programs Welcome reception
9:15 – 11:00 a.m. – Parents-only info. session
11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Family farewell luncheon
Sunday, August 23
Community-building activities throughout the day and evening
Monday, August 24
8:30 – 10:00 a.m. – First Year Studies classes meet for the first time
Individual meetings between students and advisors throughout the day
Tuesday, August 25
Trip to Chicago
Wednesday, August 26
5:00 p.m. - Matriculation Ceremony
Thursday, August 27
Classes begin
