Alpha Kappa Alpha

The purpose of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is to cultivated and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women in order to improve their social stature, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of service to all mankind." Sigma Gamma chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority has been apart of the Lake Forest College community since the year of 2000.  Our philanthropy targets are Black family, the arts, health, economics, and education.  Our goal is to work together to help make a difference in our community.


Amnesty International

Amnesty International is a worldwide grassroots movement that works to prevent and end all grave abuses to human rights through research and action.  The Amnesty International group at Lake Forest College acts locally to promote human rights in the United States and abroad.


Arab Student Association

ASA welcomes anyone as a member regardless of whether they identify as an Arab or not.
ASA’s main goal is to raise awareness about Arab culture. This can be accomplished through activities such as:

Educating People through:
a) Lectures
c) Cultural movies
d) Language tutorials

Spreading Awareness:
a) Student discussions
b) Highlighting social and political world events

Social and Entertainment:
a) Arabic night (food, music)
b) Fashion show
c) Cultural dances
d) Social outings/ Field trips to Arab communities


Baha'i Campus Association

The Bahá’í Campus Association at Lake Forest College aims at contributing to the enrichment of the cultural life of students on campus. The Association would strive to promote such principles of race and gender equality, the abandonment of all forms of prejudice, the recognition of the unity and relativity of religious truth, the recognition that true religion is in harmony with reason and the pursuit of scientific knowledge, and the responsibility of each person to independently search for truth.

The Bahá’í Campus Association endeavors to organize—formal and informal—interfaith discussions, lectures on various topics of interest for college youth, and visits to the Bahá’í House of Worship in Wilmette. __________________________________________________________________________________

Friends of Bulgaria

Friends of Bulgaria is dedicated to bringing Bulgarian culture and contemporary issues to the Lake Forest College community.  Among a variety of programs and events, Friends of Bulgaria celebrates Grandma Marta on March 1st.  Friends of Bulgaria welcomes students of all nationalities.

Hillel

Hillel is a group for Jewish students on campus. A developing organization, Hillel welcomes all Jews - reform, conservative, orthodox, or cultural. Our focus is to create a Jewish life on campus, cultivating a relationship with our community. In addition to planning for major holidays, Hillel hopes to take part in awareness projects. We also take part in Chicago Hillel events with area universities. ____________________________________________________________________________________

Interfaith Center

Since 1976 the Interfaith Center at Lake Forest College has been serving as the umbrella organization for all religous groups and activities on campus. We are a group dedicated to dialogue and communication between religious groups on camus, and offer assistance and support to all religious organizations. Students come to us when they want to start a new religious group on campus and we will help them get it started. In addition, the Interfaith Center hosts a variety of events throughout the year that promote interreligious understanding, such as our annual Inter-Collegiate Parliament of the World's Sacred Traditions in the fall and our annual Evening With ________ program in the spring.


International Student Organization (ISO)

The International Students Organization of Lake Forest College promotes worldwide integration and awaremess of different cultures. We are dedicated to our goals of providing support to International Students, educating the community about foreign cultures and religions, celebrating diversity, and fostering a spirit of global society by organizing both entertaining and educational cultural events.


Latinos Unidos

Latinos Unidos is Lake Forest College's Hispanic Cultural Organization.  Our organization is a niche for those who are both interested and take part in Latino culture.  We are active in aspects like Latino awareness and issues, community service, and cultural events.  Our ultimate goal is to advocate unity, respect and knowledge of Latino culture not only from campus but from around the globe.


Muslim Student Association (MSA)

The Muslim Student Association aspires to bring about a better understanding of Islam as a religion. We strive to make Islamic information available to the public and to encourage participation of MSA members in such endeavors.  We are also an organization that strives to strengthen the faith of each Muslim in God and the message He revealed to His Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).  A key objective of MSA is to present and explain Islam to the followers of other faiths.  This organization does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, color, religion, gender, national origin, ancestry, disability, veteran's status, sexual orientation or political affiliation.  One does NOT have to be Muslim to participate in this organization.


PRIDE

PRIDE is dedicated to enhancing diversity on the campus of Lake Forest College by affirming the dignity and worth of all members of the College community, regardless of real or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity. PRIDE’s mission is to provide support for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queer (GLBTQ) students, and to educate the Lake Forest College community at large in regard to GLBTQ issues. PRIDE hosts a variety of functions throughout the year, including sexual health awareness demonstrations, guest speakers, social events, and the annual Collegiate Fortnight of Pride, a two-week festival that includes the perennially popular Drag Show.


STAND  (Students Taking Action Now: Darfur)

A Student Anti-Genocide Coalition is an umbrella organization of over 600 high school and college chapters dedicated to putting an end to genocide, specifically the ongoing genocide in Darfur, Sudan.

STAND formed out of the rapidly growing student movement to protect Darfur and works to unify this anti-genocide movement under one message by providing students with informational, educational and organizing resources, empowering them through an extensive network of impassioned student activists and advocating for a change in the world’s mentality towards genocide.

The Lake Forest College Chapter of STAND works on three teams with the goals of educating our campus and community, participating in political advocacy, and fundraising. We are currently investigating the possibility of a divestment campaign. STAND works cooperatively with Cultural Coaltion, Students Educating Students, and Invisible Children to promote awareness and action in regard to international human rights abuses. All students are welcome to join, participate, or attend events!

Students for Women's Awareness Network (SWAN)

Students for Women’s Awareness Network (Swan) is Lake Forest College’s only student campus organization that focuses specifically on women’s issues.  Swan’s mission is to engage the Lake Forest College Campus in women’s related issues through a variety of programs, presentations, social events, and conferences.

A campus organization for Christians sponsored by InterVarsity, a nationwide organization with campus groups varying from college to college.  __________________________________________________________________________________

United Asia 

United Asia is a network of students devoted to encouraging awareness of the different cultures of Asia on campus.  It is a group for learning and sharing, and is therefore very open to students of all ethnicities and cultures.

United Black Association (UBA)

United Black Association (UBA) is a student organization that focuses on African-American culture. The group feels that the support of black culture, and issues pertaining to the black community, are necessary to the emotional, intellectual, and cultural growth of all students, faculty, and staff.  UBA is a resource for the entire Lake Forest College community.  UBA embraces cultural diversity, thus our membership, discussions, and events are open to the entire College community, regardless of race.

UBA's goals are the following:
 
a) Promote a positive image of African-Americans
b) Educate the College community about African-American history
c) Develop Afro-centric programs for the Lake Forest College community
d) Enrich cultural student life at the College
e) Ensure full, ongoing commitment of the College administration to fair, equitable policies
f) Strengthen and support the connection between African-American students
g) Support African-American students in their educational endeavors
