imageIntercultural Relations > Message from the Director

In 2003 the U.S. Supreme Court clearly affirmed the benefit of students being educated within a diverse setting.  There are many individual, institutional, and societal benefits that come from having diverse campuses.  The most successful college graduates are those who not only participate in the traditional collegiate academic and co-curricular experiences, but who can also cross cultural boundaries with ease.  These successful graduates maximize their potential because they know the personal and professional value of interacting socially and in the workplace with people from diverse backgrounds.  Diversity is central to the mission of Lake Forest College and we recognize our responsibility in providing an intercultural educational experience for our students.

The Intercultural Relations Office leads Lake Forest College in this endeavor by providing support, structures, and opportunities that allow students to develop self-awareness, gain information, and practice skills related to the development of cross-cultural competence and intercultural growth.

I welcome and invite any member of the Lake Forest College community to participate in the programs and services sponsored by the Intercultural Relations Office.

Rob Flot, Director
