info@cafepride.com

Cafe Pride is a ministry of Lake View Presbyterian Church
Cafe Pride is Chicago's coffeehouse for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender youths, and their friends, 17 to 21 years old.
Although we meet in a church and many of us are religious, we are not all Christian and do not require you to be religious. (We do not beat up people with the Bible, but we will talk about religion if you are interested.)  We believe that being religious and being gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or questioning is not a contradiction.
Cafe Pride is a safe place to:
• Bring friends
• Meet new people
• Listen to your tunes
• Relax
Cafe Pride is different from most social service agencies, commercial coffeehouses, or support groups.
• You do not need to bring money. (no cover and no charge for refreshments)
• We will not ask you to fill out any questionnaires.
• You will not be forced to talk to anybody if you do not feel like it.
• We invite you to bring your own tunes. (Be prepared to defend your selections!)
Cafe Pride is a ministry of gay and straight people with the conviction that growing up requires a lot of mental and emotional work. We believe that sometimes that work is best accomplished in a safe space where other pressures can be ignored. We do believe in encouraging spirituality among all persons, but we are not trying to convert anyone to any one religious tradition. (Although we have been known to make fun of bad haircuts.)
