UMOJA
Umoja is a student organization that focuses on promoting awareness and a cultural perspective of the African continent. Umoja seeks to extend itself as an additional resource to cater to incoming students from the continent, and also educate the community about the diversity, concerns, culture, and ideals of the African continent. Umoja is not exclusively for African students, it is open to everyone and anyone who has interest in issues concerning the African continent and the people of Africa.
Our Objective
Umoja seeks to collaborate with the college community in creating an environment where students can learn about the diverse culture, concerns, challenges, and issues about the continent of Africa. Umoja would also like to act as a resource for the African community in the college to provide support and help incoming students to adjust to the life in the USA and Lake Forest College. Umoja also seeks to promote a spirit of service amongst its members. This can and will be achieved through volunteer work organized by the organization itself and also through our allies from Chicago and other colleges.
