The Career Advancement Center puts on a number of programs and events throughout the year. For a complete list of upcoming events please log-in to the Online Career Center.
Peer Advising:
Peer Advisors can help you with your resume. Typically, Peer Advisors are available Mondays (10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 1:30 - 5:00 p.m.), Tuesdays (10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.), Wednesdays (1:30 - 5:00 p.m.), and Thursdays (10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.). Call the CAC for the exact weekly schedule. Appointments are recommended but walk-ins are also welcome!
The Mentor Program:
Students and alumni are matched for a one-year-long relationship.
NEW! Follow a Forester
New this year! The CAC has parterned with the Alumni Board to offer a limited number of opportunities for students to shadow alumni working in various career fields. Students must submit a short statement of interest for each position and will be contacted by the staff if selected.
Career Chats/Panels:
Lake Forest College alumni visit campus to speak about career and professional experiences. The Career Advancement Center works with student groups and faculty to coordinate these events, which are often open to the entire student body. Students should RSVP for chats on the Online Career Center.
Speed Networking:
Speed networking gives students, alumni, employers, and friends of the college an opportunity to network and exchange information through computer matched 5-minute conversations.
Etiquette Dinner:
Each fall the Career Advancement Center in partnership with the Office of Development and Alumni Relations holds an etiquette dinner.
The Majors Fair
Visit with department representatives from across campus, learn more about how to choose and declare a major, and the benefits of adding a minor.
Information Sessions/Workshops:
Check the Online Career Center for upcoming sessions. Past topics include internship information sessions and resume workshops.
Mock Interviews:
Alumni volunteers hold mock interviews on campus. Students meet with their interviewer for 30 minutes and get valuable feedback on their interviewing skills and resume. A great way to prepare for your job or internship search!
Graduate School Programming:
Check the Online Career Center for events such as graduate school panels, graduate school information sessions and free graduate school practice exams.
Career Fairs:
As a member of the Illinois Small Placement Association, Lake Forest College students can participate in annual career fairs including CareerFest (Spring) and TeacherFest (Spring).
Employer Information Sessions:
Occasionally employers offer information sessions for Lake Forest College students. Check the Online Career Center for details.
