Career Advancement Center > Students > Interview Preparation

If you are asked to interview for a position, it means the company is interested in hiring you.  It is completely normal to feel nervous, but with practice and preparation you can enter the interview feeling ready to succeed.  Interviewing is a skill, not a natural talent.  There are a few steps you can take to help ensure a successful interviewing experience.  Before the interview you should do the following:

1.  Research the company, industry, and position

2.  Know yourself, your skills, and your experiences.

      You should be able to:

Articulate who you are and what you have done related to the position

Discuss what sets you apart from other candidates and provide specific examples

Discuss your background and experiences without the help of your resume.

3.   Practice

Review the types of questions commonly asked and practice your responses

Schedule an appointment with a career advisor or participate in Mock Interviews with Alumni

4.   Follow up with a tailored thank you note
