Lisa Hinkley

Lisa Hinkley, director of career services in the Career Advancement Center, leads the career services team and supports students throughout their development. She earned her Master of Arts in Student Affairs Administration from Michigan State University and Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a minor in Speech Communication from Bradley University. 

She spent six years as a Field Career Consultant for the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University, managing career services delivery for 3600 students. As an instructor, she taught career decision-making, job search strategies, goal-setting and leadership development. 

Lisa enjoys learning new things – from rock climbing to digital scrapbooking.

Rose Sterling

Rose Sterling completed her Master of Education in Human Services and Counseling with a concentration in Student Affairs and Community Counseling. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Education from the University of Florida. Rose joined the Career Advancement Center in August 2008 as the assistant director of career services. She provides advising and assessments to students seeking assistance with choosing a major, internship, and job opportunities.  Her prior work experience in higher education includes advising, recruiting, tutoring, and mentoring students. Prior to joining the Career Advancement Center, Rose worked as a Clinical Counseling intern at Columbia College of Chicago providing individual and group therapy to students, facilitating mental health education workshops, and working collaboratively with faculty and staff on student outreach programs. She is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), American College Personnel Association (ACPA), and the National Urban League Young Professionals (NULYP). Rose is very excited to be a part of the Lake Forest College community and looks forward to helping students advance in both their academic and career endeavors.

Alina Allen

Desalina “Alina” Allen graduated with a degree in Finance from the University of Illinois, and began her career as an analyst for a litigation consulting firm in Chicago. Prior to accepting her current position, she worked for a nonprofit organization teaching financial literacy concepts to Chicago Public School students and recruiting volunteers to do the same. 

In her free time Alina coaches a high school dance team and mentors CPS students. She also loves traveling, golden retrievers, attempting to speak Italian, and spending time with friends and family.

As the mentor program coordinator, Alina manages the year-long and short term mentoring opportunities for students. She will also develop programming to help students develop as professionals and connect their liberal arts experience to the world of work.

Melinda Pudlo

Melinda Pudlo graduated from Benedictine University with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition.  She obtained her MBA from Dominican University.  After working in the corporate world for many years, in various positions of administration, account management, and marketing, Melinda joined Lake Forest College in the fall of 2005 as the Career Advancement Center’s Department Assistant. 

Melinda’s role is to assist the Career Advancement Center’s staff, Lake Forest College students, and faculty with the events and activities sponsored by the Career Advancement Center. 

She lives in Grayslake, IL with her family, which consists of her husband, two sons, and dog.  Melinda enjoys working out, reading, traveling and mostly spending time with her family and friends.

Mission Statement

Career Services at Lake Forest College helps students and alumni define and realize their career goals through:

  1. Fostering an environment in which individuals make independent and ethical career-related decisions.
  2. Delivering comprehensive and individualized career counseling and resources for students and alumni.
  3. Developing long lasting collaborative relationships with employers, staff, faculty, and alumni volunteers.
  4. Preparing students with the skills to be successful throughout their changing careers.
  5. Educating students and alumni that career exploration is a lifelong process.
