New Students > Academic Resources

Congratulations on your admission to Lake Forest College!  As the Chief Academic Officer and the head of the Dean of Faculty (DOF) office, I can attest to the intrinsic interest and practical value of the classes you will be taking here, as well as to the magnificence of our faculty, as researchers and especially as teachers.

Your first contact with our office will be the list of  First-Year Studies courses, which will arrive in your mailbox in early summer.  Click on to our First-Year Studies site for more information.

Associate Dean of the Faculty George Speros works with students on national scholarship applications and oversees study-abroad programs and internships. Check out our off-campus study site, and you’ll see all the exciting journeys we can help you take.

Our dedication to teaching is one reason why Lake Forest offers so many opportunities for undergraduates to work with faculty on primary research.  Find out more at the student research site.

DeJuran Richardson, Associate Dean of Faculty and Director of our Learning and Teaching Center -- and Professor of Mathematic -- works with students and faculty to help students excel.  Among the Programs he helps to coordinate is our “Interact” series, evening seminars in a variety of college skills for first-year students, taught by faculty experts.  Take a look at the full array of offerings on the Learning and Teaching Center site.

Rami Levin, Associate Dean of the Faculty and Director of the Center—and an actively teaching Professor of Music-- heads up the College's academic and co-curricular connections to the Windy City.  Check out the Center for Chicago Programs site for information about Chicago-centered courses and about lots of fun things to do in the city.

Last but not least, I officiate at Commencement!  I look forward to meeting you in person and to proudly call out your name as you walk across the stage in front of family, friends, and faculty, and collect your diploma from Lake Forest College!

Sincerely,

Janet McCracken
Provost and Dean of the Faculty
