How Do I?

To request articles and non-I-Share books from other libraries you will need to set up an ILLiad Account.
Begin by entering your College user name and password.

set up my EndNote Web account?

Sign up for an EndNote Web account to store references used for research papers and format your bibliography and citations.

  1. Go to myendnoteweb.com and
    click on the yellow-orange Sign Up link.
  2. The email address you enter will become your username.
  3. The password requirements are strong, so you may want to add an exclamation point (!) to a password you already have memorized.
…set up Google Scholar?
  • To access the complete article that you find in Google Scholar:

    1. Use our Google Scholar institution link:
      scholar.google.com/schhp?inst=2612079840430554654
      or any link to Google Scholar on the library website.
       
      If you are off campus and not using our Google Scholar institutional link:
      1. At scholar.google.com, next to the gear wheel, click Settings.
      2. Click Library links.
      3. Search for Lake Forest College and check the boxes.
      4. Click the blue Save button.
    2. In the Google Scholar search results, below the article title,
      click More
    3. Click Check Lake Forest College

    To export Google Scholar references to EndNote Web:
    In the Google Scholar search results, below the article:

    1. Click Cite
    2. Choose RefMan.

    *It is currently no longer necessary to set up Google Scholar in order to export citations.

see if we have a particular journal?

find a particular journal or article by ISSN or DOI?

request articles?
  1. Search databases for articles.
  2. Click the “Find It” button:
    or click “Check Lake Forest College”
  3. If there are no links to the article,
    then click “Request item via Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad).”

…get an article from PubMed?

Easy method:
If you use the PubMed links on the Library’s website, just click on the article title, then click the “Find It” button:
Other method:
If you get to PubMed from Google or some other bookmarked link:
PubMed articles always have a PubMed ID number.
For example, the article Snow White and the Zombies has
PMID: 18438980
Search for that number using this form.

…get full text of a Google Scholar article and export its citation?
  • To access the complete article that you find in Google Scholar:

You can access databases from off campus using the library website links and your Lake Forest College username and password.

Printers are available in the 24-Hour Lab, the reference area, room 203, and the TRC. The TRC has color and large-size printers. See Printing FAQs.

…add money to my printing account?

Students can add money to their printing account in any amount at the Reference Desk, using cash or check.  Money can also be added at the Business Office ($5.00 minimum). To pay with a debit card, use the College’s e-commerce site

…book a classroom in the library?
Most library classrooms are booked through Ad Astra (log in with your College username and password).  For Rooms 002 and 201, contact Jill Zwicke at 847-735-5068.
…arrange for proctoring in the library?

…make an appointment with a librarian?
Come to or call (847-735-5074) the reference desk in the library or contact a librarian directly.
