LAKE FOREST, IL - The Lake Forest College women's tennis team started off the 2001 fall season with a victory over Benedictine University by a score of 6-3. Other fall sports will begin their seasons later in the week. Sophomore Sarah Roberts (Plainfield, IL/Lyons Township) and junior Jackie Pieczkiewicz (Grayslake, IL/Grayslake Community) played singles at number three and five, respectively, and did not give up a single point, winning their matches 6-0, 6-0. Senior Jamie Irons (Neenah, WI/Neenah) also won her singles match (number four) by a score of 6-4, 6-3. Benedictine had only five players and was forced to forfeit at number six singles. In doubles action, Roberts and Irons were victorious at number one by a score of 8-5. The Foresters also won the point at number three doubles because Benedictine could not field a team at that position. Lake Forest's next match will be on Thursday (September 6th) at Aurora
University at 3:00 pm.
